From hosting our biggest client event yet to taking our annual family camping trips, 2023 was an exciting year that blended professional success with personal joy. As a realtor, the past year not only provided us with ample opportunities to help many clients find their dream homes but also allowed us to cultivate meaningful connections.
As we reflect on the highs of 2023, we’re not only celebrating the houses we helped turn into homes but also the memories we’ve created along the way. Check out the highlights from the past year and our goals and aspirations for 2024. The journey continues, and we’re excited to bring you along!
01/ On the personal front, our annual family camping trips were a delightful escape from our busy schedule. We recharged and made the best memories that fuel our passion for what we do. It’s the balance between work and life that not only defines our success as realtors but also shapes the genuine connections we establish with our clients.
02/ Our biggest client event was exceptional, bringing our clients, past and present, together in a vibrant atmosphere. It wasn’t just about transactions; it was about creating a community where we could come together, share experiences, and share our gratitude with clients.
03/ While the market experienced a dip (22% overall downturn since the year before), we outperformed the market, and our sales mirrored the previous year’s successes. This was a great accomplishment, and it reflects the personalized service, market insights, and top-notch efforts we invest in every client and property.
04/ We grew the team! We hired a part-time assistant to help with our systems and implementing consistent processes for us and our clients. This has been a game changer, giving us more time to focus on other to-dos.
Joel was hosting an open house and met a couple looking to buy their first home. He hit it off with the husband, and Joel gave him his business card and said if they wanted to work with him, call him. A few hours later, the buyer called back and said the agents at the other open houses were awful, and they wanted to work with Joel. The best part is that the wife and Mal joked that a bromance was brewing between those two.
The best ending was that we found them their first home, and it was one of the happiest key handing over we had all year. They also got a great deal and value for the home. It took them a lot to reach that point, and the dream became a reality.

If you follow the real estate market, you know that the most significant challenges of 2023 were the interest rates and affordability of homes. That meant we had to get creative in crafting offers for both buyers and sellers. We also found success by discovering the sellers’ motivation to get lower offers accepted.
Although this is still a challenge, we love helping clients discover buydown programs and other lender programs.
In 2024, we hope that rates end up in the 5% range, bringing an influx of buyers back into the buyer pool. We are also hoping for additional growth in our business by pushing ourselves more and increasing accountability.
We also want to level up our customer service and value to our clients even more. By increasing agent commission transparency and buyer agreements, we will continue building trust with clients, which also helps our industry.
We are here to buy or sell your home. With seamless customer service and creative offers, we can help you discover the next house that will become your home.

Until next time,
Mal & Joel
